Padre ft Jova - Chasing Mirrors (Christian Löffler Remix)

Derelicht presents a captivating video to accompany the Christian Loffler version of Chasing Mirrors which has been developed and produced by a collaboration between AΦE (Esteban Fourmi & Aoi Nakamura), Ben Harries and Oliver Jennings. The video encompasses an installation entitled “Kinbaku” that utilises a Japanese spiritualistic discipline as its primary medium and was premiered at Spill Festival 2014. The video showcases AΦE’s installation which symbolically attempts to unravel the constraints and unseen pressures originally conveyed in the vocal by Jova Radevska, expressed through the ancient art of Kinbaku. Credits: AΦE & Oliver Jennings – Artistic Direction Aoi Nakamura – Kinbaku Performance Ben Harries & Oliver Jennings – Videography Oliver Jennings – Post Production Scott White – Sound Engineering David Altweger – Mapping & Projections KINBAKU - was part of SPILL Festival of Performance 2014, and is Supported by Nippon Gohsei, Jasmin Vardimon Company, The Place, Special thanks to Paul Massey. Killawatt - Aeolis Mons (Directed by Liam Roberts)

"An analogue infusion of glitched wilderness, chaos and chance" To accompany the release of D001, Derelicht wanted to create a Visual EP to showcase tracks by The Soft, ThermalBear and Killawatt. Liam Roberts directed the video for "Aeolis Mons" and comments on his workflow and thoughts behind the process. "I selected "Aeolis Mons" by Killawatt as it seemed intense and had this un-constrained raw energy to it. For this video I'm exploring the medium of VHS tape, directly manipulating the tape to create raw analogue glitches, moving away from the computer and applying very little in terms of post production. The glitched tape consists of footage shot by myself of countryside wilderness, fused with sampled materiel from the depths of the VHS bin in local charity shops, with the combined aim of creating an intense sense of mystery, confusion and unknown".

ThermalBear - Carpe Noctem (Directed by Oliver Jennings)

"Layers of sharp geometrical 3D architecture with the heterogenous unpredictable nature of video feedback" To accompany Derelichts' first ever vinyl release we commissioned Oliver Jennings to produce a video to accompany ThermalBear's Carpe Noctem. Oliver comments on his thought process behind the video "The track for me combined two very different sonic worlds, there's the highly regulated beat which hits hard from inception and then the beautiful uncertainty of the sample that seems to draw you in gradually. I wanted to represent this visually by merging two opposing aesthetics and decided to experiment with combining layers of sharp geometrical 3D architecture with the heterogenous unpredictable nature of video feedback, and present this unlikely relationship in infinite black space. The two were merged with green screen in and overlaying. Video feedback interests me from an aesthetic point of view but conceptually as well, I love the the idea of a video camera `viewing itself` creating a closed infinite loop which if intercepted by a visual stimulus will create wild pattern and textures".

Oliver Jennings - MIRA Festival 2014

Oliver Jennings gives a biographical account of his journey to MIRA Festival 2014. Fresh from a headline performance at MIRA Festival 2014, Oliver Jennings releases his biographical account of the transition from an award winning RHS Chelsea Flower Show installation to performing live immersive visuals fusing the living and the digital worlds alongside Rone and Ochre. With a background of unearthing vibration signatures, energy patterns and bio-activity from innate sources and translating this into visual and sound activity Oliver Jennings practice spans multiple genres. His commissioning for MiRA Festival this year in Barcelona left many people guessing how this metamorphosis would be achieved, including the main artists Rone and Ochre he was performing alongside. In this documentary Oliver reveals through narrative his journey, inspiration and challenges in translating a bio-activity type installation into the live performance domain. Joëlle @ MIRA Festival 2015

Joëlle was commissioned by MIRA Festival to create a unique visual performance for Andy Stott’s first live show in Barcelona since releasing “Faith in Strangers”. The show concept is loosely formed around feelings of despair and the sense of a broken world. She wanted to represent the view of earth in a distorted and deformed way which was still beautiful. There are themes of insignificance and fragility and an element of things breaking down and building up again. But there is also an element of hope, transformation and faith in humanity. The Soft - Icaria (Directed by William Glass)

“Icaria is a fantasy of petals, dust, hands, confetti, and roses. A perpetually unravelling string of animated layers, soaked and marinated in sickly sweet digital gloss" Currently studying at the Slade school of Fine Art, William Glass, the 3rd member of The Soft, has produced videos for the bands hits including Prana and Mori. William performs immersive live visuals, designs digital and physical cover art and is currently working on short narrative pieces. His work revolves around augmented stock imagery, digital manipulation, key-frame animation and the hallucinatory surfaces of HD renderings. Of his latest video he states: “Icaria is a fantasy of petals, dust, hands, confetti, and roses. A perpetually unravelling string of animated layers, soaked and marinated in sickly sweet digital gloss, continuously interrupted by the violent noise of glitch and compression and shimmering with crystal flares, glints and light leaks.”

Jon Gurd - Birth Right EP (Dave Clarke Remix)

Jon Gurd’s Birth Right EP is the first material from the Portsmouth based Techno producer in more than 2 years since his ventures on Octopus recordings, 8 Sided Dice and Quartz. The EP therefore indicates an audible step change not just in the approach to production but also in the mindset and emotive feeling behind each texture and layer. Having emerged unscathed from a traumatic family related drama Jon communicates a tortuous and re-evaluated life message across all 3 tracks, and is dedicated to his brother with a hidden meaning conveying, “Tomorrow Is - Promised - To No One”. The idea behind the Jon Gurd video is a flashback, a distant memory of defunct machinery with interruption and abstract distortion emanating a feeling of being locked in a mechanical loop or recurring dream. Decoding Jon's original intentions further I've attempted to engage the audience through an experience of being isolated in the past whilst taking clues from the undertone, "Tomorrow Is Promised To No One". In terms of process, I'm a huge believer in the reappropriation of vintage media and rare finds so bargain bin tapes and stock footage have been used, disrupted with glitching techniques and experimentational coding. A monochrome theme has been favoured to remove complication and give the video a more consistent vintage aesthetic. Ive even restricted myself to using the most basic of software to add a layer of analogue constraint and recapturing certain elements to embed decay that I think benefits the overall outcome. Tilt ft G-Man - 30 Hits Of Acid

We were approached by Mick Parks of Tilt to produce a video for the track "30 Hits Of Acid" from the forthcoming "Resonator" Album and UK Tour. Oliver Jennings directed the video and gives his thoughts on the process "by magnifying, refilming and manipulating very small sections of old obscure cartoons and animations beyond recognition I created this aesthetic which maintains the movement and texture of the original films but now appears predominantly as abstract movement through various evolving textures, occasionally interspersed with an odd hint of something from the story. The footage has been overlaid many times and the colour palette reworked to mimic a state of psychosis" For bookings contact [email protected]

Emerging From The Shadows

This is a test film for the agency DERELICHT. I wanted to capture the essence of a night out, in a cinematic surrealistic, and poetic way, this would then be a classic three act short film. I had a vision to try explore the feelings a person has on a night out in a club environment, from getting to the venue, the excitement that builds when you reach the club, you join a huge crowd of likeminded people waiting in line, patiently, then you enter the environment for the first time, its perfect, and its yours for the taking, you then begin to feel your away around, the club is peaking, and so are you, the vibe takes over, the sound takes over, and you forget everything that happens in the outside world, you have lost yourself, and then the last tune rings out though the huge sound system, the night has ended, and you begin to emerge from the shadows, from an underground alien landscape that has been your home for just a few hours. The house lights come up, and you begin to come down, it dawns on you so suddenly, that when you reach the street again outside that you need to get home, the welcoming fresh air hits you, your sweaty, your skint, the sun is coming up, you need a bath, your hungry, you want more, you want to sleep, you can hear birds, your feet feel like bloody stumps, your mouth is dry, the first trains are starting to pull away, your ears are ringing, but your smiling, your happy, its an intense assault of the senses, only for you to do it all again on repeat in a few days time. The soundscape I created is a little nod to cinema, I wanted to create a sound that has many layers, as if to put you in the picture. The more you listen and the more you look the more you see and feel. This is want it means to me. the excitement the passion the unity the freshness the pleasure This piece could also be used as a calling card for Derelicht, on their website and / or an intro to a live VJ set.
