The rbd sim is super quick. As for the secondaries, the slowest part was the fluid solve which was no surprise. The fluid render was also pretty heavy. The solve took less than two hours, the render about 6.
I'm pretty happy with the result. I would've loved to render this with my displacement shader on, but the render times went through the roof and I was hard-pressed for time. So the face of the wall feels too flat. The interior polys also had displacement, but I had to disable it :(
The interior polys also have what appeared to be swimming UVs, but it turned out it was my noise moving. I didn't apply the noise to the rest position, so when the pieces moved, they were moving through the noise. Oh well.. ya live and ya learn!
In this short animation i got my inspiration from Eduard Schulze-Battmann. Although i have made my own signature.
